This October, I participated in the Bologna Children's Book Fair competition to mark the 100th year since Italo Calvino's birth. I chose to prepare two illustrations on the book The Baron in the Trees, choosing to represent Cosimo's state of mind in two different moments. The first, angry and grumpy, when in protest he decides to climb trees, and the second serene, with a life now spent discovering the world of trees. Thanks to this competition, I had the pleasure of rediscovering this fantastic Italian author, whom I had not re-read since primary school! It was a wonderful experience.
